The Vision of the Holy God
Serving in Jerusalem during the reigns of four Judahite kings, Isaiah experienced a life-defining encounter in the year King Uzziah died. Standing in spirit within the heavenly temple, he saw the Lord high and exalted as seraphim declared: 'Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory' (Isaiah 6:3). Cleansed by a live coal from the altar, he responded: 'Here am I. Send me!'.
The Prince of Peace and Immanuel
Often termed the 'Fifth Evangelist', Isaiah penned the most profound Messianic prophecies in the Old Testament. He foretold the virgin birth of Immanuel ('God with us') and announced: 'For to us a child is born, to us a son is given... and he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace' (Isaiah 9:6).
The Suffering Servant and the New Creation
In Isaiah 53, the prophet painted a crystal-clear preview of Christ's cross: 'He was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed'.
