Elijah the Tishbite burst onto the biblical stage during the darkest days of Israel's divided kingdom, when King Ahab and Queen Jezebel promoted state-sponsored Baal worship. Standing before the royal court, Elijah boldly announced a severe drought in the name of the living God.
Miracles of Provision and the Mount Carmel Showdown
Sustained by ravens at Cherith and multiplying flour and oil for a widow in Zarephath, Elijah witnessed God's constant miraculous care. At Mount Carmel, Elijah gathered the nation for an ultimate test: the God who answers by fire is true God. As Elijah prayed, fire fell from heaven consuming the wet sacrifice, and the people cried out: 'The Lord—He is God!'
