Hadassah, known by her Persian name Esther, was an orphaned Jewish girl raised with tender care by her cousin Mordecai in the citadel of Susa. When Queen Vashti was deposed, Esther was brought to the royal palace. Through her natural grace, modest dignity, and inner beauty, King Xerxes crowned her Queen over his vast 127 provinces.
'For Such a Time as This'
The dark storm of genocide gathered when the king's top official, Haman, plotted the total annihilation of all Jews across the empire. Mordecai urged Esther to plead before the king, delivering one of scripture's most profound reminders of divine providence: 'And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?' (Esther 4:14).
The Fast, the Feast, and the Triumph
