The Call into the Unknown
Originally named Abram, he lived in the prosperous Mesopotamian city of Ur when God issued a radical summons: 'Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation' (Genesis 12:1-2). Stepping out without knowing his exact destination, he trusted completely in God's guiding hand.
The Starlit Promise of Covenant
Despite years of childlessness, God brought Abram beneath the open night sky, promising his descendants would outnumber the stars. Abram believed God, establishing the timeless biblical principle of justification by faith. At age ninety-nine, God sealed His covenant, renaming him Abraham ('father of many nations') and miraculously granting him Isaac through Sarah.
The Mount Moriah Test
The ultimate test of faith occurred when God asked Abraham to surrender Isaac on Mount Moriah. Convinced that God could raise the dead, Abraham obeyed, only for the Angel of the Lord to provide a ram caught in the thicket.
